This policy explains what Sgibbt does with information when you use it. The short version: your journal is yours, it lives in your own iCloud account, and we never receive a copy of it. The only information that reaches us is anonymous data about purchases, described in full below.
Who we are
Sgibbt is an iOS app made and published by a solo independent developer based in Pakistan, not by a company. There is no team, no investor and no data broker behind it. For anything in this policy, including any request about your data, write to turretspire@gmail.com, and you will be answered by the person who wrote the app.
What stays with you
We do not collect your journal. Your entries, day colours, titles, voice recordings and the names you give your colours are stored on your device and, when you are signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud database. That database belongs to your Apple Account. We cannot read it, and we operate no server that receives it.
What we do receive: purchase analytics
Sgibbt uses RevenueCat, a third-party service, to understand how the app is doing as a business — how many people start a subscription, renew, or cancel, and what revenue that represents. This is the only analytics in the app.
- What is sent: purchase events reported by Apple's StoreKit (which product was bought, the price and currency, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, the store country) together with basic technical context the RevenueCat SDK collects, such as device model, iOS version, app version and locale.
- What identifies it: a randomly generated identifier created by the app the first time it runs. It is not derived from you, your name, your email or your Apple Account, and it is not the device's advertising identifier. It is stored in your iCloud key-value storage so that the same person using an iPhone and an iPad counts once rather than twice.
- What is never sent: anything you write, record, or colour. RevenueCat receives no journal content of any kind.
- How it is wired: RevenueCat runs in observer mode. Purchases are made and verified entirely through Apple's StoreKit, and RevenueCat is never consulted to decide what you have access to. If it were switched off tomorrow, the app would behave identically.
- Where it goes: RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this data is processed there. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- How it is protected: we share this data with RevenueCat under a data processing agreement that requires them to protect it to the same standard described in this policy, to process it only on our instructions, and never to sell it or use it for advertising.
No purchase analytics are sent from development builds of the app.
Handled by Apple, not by us
- iCloud sync. Syncing between your devices is performed by Apple's CloudKit using your own account. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Payments. Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
- Face ID and Touch ID. Authentication is performed entirely by iOS. Biometric data never leaves the device's secure enclave and is never available to the app.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you are recording a voice note, and only after you grant permission. Recordings are stored with the entry they belong to and sync through your own iCloud like any other entry. They are not transmitted to us and are not transcribed by any third party.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled locally on your device. Its text is generic and never contains anything you have written.
No advertising, no tracking across apps
Sgibbt shows no advertising and contains no advertising SDK. It does not track you across other apps or websites, does not use the device's advertising identifier, and therefore never asks for tracking permission. Apple may provide us with aggregate, anonymised App Store and crash statistics that cannot identify you.
No artificial intelligence
Sgibbt does not use artificial intelligence or machine learning, and sends no data to any AI service. There is no such service in the app, and the app makes no network requests of its own.
Two features are sometimes mistaken for one. The writing prompts are a fixed set of reflective questions, written by hand and shipped inside the app — nothing is generated and nothing is fetched. A prompt you write yourself stays on your device. The monthly summaries on the Insights screen are assembled on your device by ordinary code that counts how often each colour appears and fills in a fixed sentence. And voice notes are never transcribed: they are recorded, saved and played back, and nothing analyses them.
How long data is kept
Your journal stays in your iCloud until you delete it. Purchase records held by RevenueCat are retained while the app is operated as a business; you can ask us to delete the record associated with your identifier using the contact address above, and because it is keyed to a random identifier rather than to you, we will ask you for that identifier or for the purchase details needed to locate it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because the journal itself never reaches us, most of these rights you can exercise directly in the app:
- Export. Export every page as plain text at any time.
- Deletion. Deleting an entry removes it and any attached recording from your device and from your iCloud database. Deleting the app removes its local data; iCloud data can be removed from iOS Settings under your Apple Account.
- Sync off. Signing out of iCloud, or turning iCloud Drive off for Sgibbt, keeps the journal local to the device.
- Purchase data. Write to turretspire@gmail.com for access to, or deletion of, the purchase record described above.
Where a legal basis is required for processing purchase analytics, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and sustaining the app. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Security
Your journal is protected by the security of your device and your Apple Account, and you can require Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode each time the app opens. Data in transit to RevenueCat is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so keeping your device and Apple Account secure matters.
Children
Sgibbt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because journal content stays on the user's own device and iCloud account, we hold no such information to delete.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
