These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the Publisher (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for your use of the QRPal mobile application and its features (the “App”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple Standard EULA”). These Terms supplement, and do not replace, those Apple terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract to use the App and be at least the age of digital consent in your country. If you are a minor, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
3. Purchases, subscriptions, and free trials
The App is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions that unlock premium features.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.
- A free trial, if offered, automatically converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- A lifetime / one-time purchase, if offered, grants access to the included premium features without recurring charges.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device’s Settings under your Apple ID. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms. We do not process payments or issue refunds directly.
- We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to observe purchase transactions for sales analytics and advertising attribution; how purchase data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the App for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
- create, distribute, or scan codes that link to malware, phishing, or illegal content, or that infringe others’ rights;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except as permitted by law;
- interfere with the App or attempt to bypass purchase or licensing controls.
5. Your content
You are responsible for the data you encode into QR codes and barcodes (such as links, contact details, Wi‑Fi credentials, or text) and for how you use codes you scan. Codes you create are yours; we do not claim ownership of them.
6. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the license granted above, no rights are transferred to you.
7. Third-party services and content
The App may let you open links, connect to networks, or search products on third-party services (such as Google, Amazon, or eBay). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, websites, or services, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
8. Scanning and links
A QR code or barcode can contain a link or other data that leads to external content. Such content may be unsafe — for example, a phishing page, malware, or other harmful, deceptive, or unwanted material — and we do not screen, verify, or control the destination of any code you scan. Be mindful of what you scan: review a code’s decoded content, open links or take actions only from sources you trust, and verify the destination before continuing. You act on scanned codes at your own risk.
9. Scan-safety feature
The App may include an optional on-device “scan-safety” or “link-safety” feature that inspects the decoded text of a code you scan and may display an informational indicator or message (for example, that a link “looks unsafe,” warrants “caution,” or shows “no obvious red flags”). This feature is a convenience aid only. It is not a security product, antivirus, or a guarantee of safety, and it does not replace your own judgment.
How it works and what it can do. The feature runs entirely on your device and analyzes only the decoded text of the code. It looks for common signs that a link may be deceptive, which may include, without limitation: look-alike, misspelled, mixed-alphabet, or encoded (punycode) domain names; a familiar brand or word placed in a misleading part of an address; numeric (IP-address) hosts used in place of a site name; unusual ports; embedded or redirecting links; hidden, invisible, or direction-changing characters; the “@” address trick; link shorteners; uncommon or frequently-abused domain endings; code-executing or content-hiding link schemes; and insecure (non-HTTPS) connections. It may also note open Wi‑Fi networks or payment and cryptocurrency requests.
What it does not do — important limitations. You acknowledge and agree that the feature:
- performs no network lookups and consults no external reputation, blocklist, threat-intelligence, safe-browsing, or antivirus service, and therefore cannot determine whether a destination is a known-bad or known-good site;
- analyzes only the decoded text and does not visit, load, render, download, or inspect the destination website, file, app, or network, or its certificate, content, or behavior;
- relies on heuristics (rules of thumb) and will produce both false negatives — failing to warn about links, sites, files, networks, or payments that are in fact harmful, fraudulent, or unwanted — and false positives, warning about content that is in fact legitimate;
- cannot detect malware, phishing, fraud, scams, identity or data theft, or other harm that does not exhibit the specific textual patterns it checks for; an ordinary-looking link, code, or network may still be harmful;
- does not assess the trustworthiness, legitimacy, or safety of any person, business, website, payment, Wi‑Fi network, or contact, or of the content, downloads, or consequences that follow from opening a link or taking an action; and
- may differ between App versions and between the free and paid tiers, and may be changed, limited, or removed at any time without notice.
What to expect, and what not to. Treat any indicator as a single, imperfect hint, not a verdict. The absence of a warning is not an assurance that a code, link, network, or payment is safe or legitimate, and the presence of a warning is not a definitive finding that it is harmful. A result such as “no obvious red flags” means only that the on-device checks did not detect one of the specific patterns described above; it is not a certification, endorsement, verification, or approval of safety.
Your responsibility and the cautions you must exercise. You remain solely responsible for deciding whether and how to act on any code you scan. Before opening a link, connecting to a network, saving a contact, disclosing information, or making a payment, you should independently verify both the destination and the source; proceed only from sources you trust; never enter passwords or financial or personal information in reliance on this feature; and use separate, current security measures and your own judgment. Do not rely on the App or this feature as your sole or primary means of determining whether any link, website, file, network, payment, contact, or code is safe, genuine, or trustworthy.
No warranty; no liability. The scan-safety feature is provided “as is” and “as available,” as a convenience, without warranty of any kind, and is subject to the disclaimers and the limitation of liability in these Terms. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, or harm arising from or relating to the feature or your use of or reliance on it, including any false positive, false negative, missed or mischaracterized threat, inaccuracy, or unavailability, and any action you take or fail to take based on it. This section supplements, and does not limit, Section 8 (Scanning and links), Section 10 (Disclaimers), and Section 11 (Limitation of liability).
10. Disclaimers
The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that scanning or generation will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that every code or device will be supported. You are responsible for verifying the destination and safety of any code before acting on it.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the App or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
13. Termination
These Terms apply until terminated. Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms. You may end it by deleting the App. Provisions that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive termination.
14. Changes
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
16. Apple-specific terms
The following apply because the App is distributed through Apple’s App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Your license is limited to using the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms.
- We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and for providing any maintenance and support.
- If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product-liability, legal/regulatory, and intellectual-property claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.
